UAE National Sports Day Postponed !
The National Olympic Committee has decided to postpone the National Sports Day until further notice. The decision has been taken on the recommendation of the Executive Office of the event in coordination with all concerned parties.


NOC endorses March 7th for 3rd National Sports Day

The National Olympic Committee announced the launch of the third edition of the National Sports Day on March 7th, 2018 in collaboration with the sports organisations and councils across the nation.

The event will showcase the 9th Special Olympics MENA Games Abu Dhabi 2018 for the People of Determination (14-22 March 2018). The event, which is expected to attract 1200 athletes from 33 counties, promises to be the biggest preparation event for the Special Olympics World Summer Games 2019.

The 3rd National Sports Day will be held in the Year of Zayed under the theme (UAE Unites Us); which has stepped up the concept of community participation. The event is inspired by the directions of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to hold a Sports Day that brings together all resident communities of the UAE. It bears strong reference to the attention of the UAE to embed the values of love between community members, especially as the sport is selected as a means of realising this vision and diffusing the spirit of cooperation and understanding between various age groups and organisations, let alone protecting the health of community members from contemporary diseases.

HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, President of the NOC cum Chairman of the Supreme Committee for the National Sports Day, said, “While participating in the 3rd National Sports Day, I would wish to stress that the mission and objectives of the event go beyond the practicing of sports, heritage and fun activities. It unites various categories through the love of this nation, and promotes the sense of national identity. It has become influential to all spectrums of the Emirati community; which values the importance of initiatives in nurturing promising generations capable of communicating and respecting others. It opens the door for exchanging cultures and knowledge between 200 nationalities living in coherence on the land of this blessed nation.

“Under the support and care of the UAE leadership for all humanitarian, communal, sports and cultural initiatives, the UAE has set the best-urbanised model that reflects noble objectives and aspirations. I would wish to avail this opportunity to express sincere thanks and appreciation to HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE; his brother HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, their Highnesses Members of the Supreme Council and Rulers of the Emirates, and Crown Princes.
