Civil Aviation Authority takes part in National Sports Day16 Feb 2019 by Admin
The teams of the National Olympic Committee continued visits in preparation for the launch of the 4th National Sports Day; March 7, 2019. The event coincides with the Year of Tolerance and the World Special Olympic Games – Abu Dhabi 2019.
Saleh bin Ashour, Assistant Secretary-General for Technical and Sports Affairs, NOC, received Mohammed Abdullah Ahli, Director General of the Dubai Civil Aviation in the presence of Mohammed bin Darwish, Executive director of the NOC. Attendees also included Mohammed Abdullah Linjawi, Executive Director of Aviation Security and Incidence Investigation; and Saud Abdul Aziz Kankazar, Executive Director of Air Transport and International Affairs along with the sports team.
The gathering discussed plans of the event covering logistical, organisational and administrative aspects towards the realisation of the objective set by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in 2015 to stage a sports day encompassing all community segments. Such a day, was envisaged by HH as a platform for practising sports activities in a bid to showcase the importance of sport in the life of people, rendering sport a lifestyle safeguarding against diseases and ensuring a happy life.
Ahli praised the sports movement led by the NOC and the achievements made at the local level in promoting the sports awareness amongst citizens and residents. “Such efforts will have positive health, psychological and physical reflections on people and bring happiness to them. The event will also contribute to the preparation of national teams for participation in continental and international games,” he noted.
“We are proud to have elite sports leaders assuming key positions in various Arab, Asian and international sports federations. We, in the Dubai Civil Aviation will stage a sports day for employees of the DCA. The National Sports Day initiative is a great opportunity for practicing sports and recreational activities for the benefit of all community segments. It will reflect positively on the attitudes and raise the profile of sport through raising the public awareness and social culture. The event is not restricted to practicing sports activities, but will also be a gateway for exchanging knowledge, friendship and ideas.
