The team of the National Sports Day has reviewed preparations for the 5th renewal of the event on 5 March 2020. This annual sports showpiece attracts wide participation from public and private entities in all age categories.

In a meeting held two days ago at the premises of the NOC in Dubai chaired by HE Sheikh Eng. Salim bin Sultan Al Qasimi and other members, attendees made a vote of thanks to HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, President of the NOC and Chairman of the Higher Committee of the National Sports Day.

They commended the support and care of HH for new lifestyles free from diseases and nurturing healthy generations, considering it the key driver of this noble initiative; which was launched in response to the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. It was the aim of Sheikh Mohammed to engage all community members in practising physical, sports and traditional activities in one day.

The Executive Office of the NOC has endorsed the composition of the team overseeing the national sports day. It comprises of Ahmed Al Raysi (Ajman), Fahad Abdullah bin Juma (Ras Al Khaima), Abdullah Salim Qanzol (Umm Al Quwain), Talal Al Hashimi (Abu Dhabi Sports Council), Saeed Ali Al Ajil (Sharjah Sports Council), Anoud Saeed Al Falasi (Ministry of Health and Prevention), Salih Hasan Al Hamadi (Ministry of Community Development), Ahmed Barakat Al Abdouli (General Authority of Sport), Captain Humaid Khamis Al Ali (Police Sports Federation), Fatma Al Rayeesi (UAE Women Sports), and Mohammed bin Darwish (NOC).

The meeting discussed the agenda of the fifth edition of the event; which succeeded in promoting core concepts in several key areas. It stressed the importance of practising sport and its impact on human health and people happiness. It opened new opportunities for participants who made great contributions amongst 200 nationalities engaged in the past editions of the event.

Sheikh Eng. Salim Al Qasmi stressed that the team of the national sports day would always welcome excellent ideas and proposals contributing to the success and continuity of this event; which has become a rendezvous for all citizens and residents of the UAE.

“We were thrilled with the confidence of the NOC’s Executive Office in selecting us to prepare for the fifth edition of the national sports day. It is a national event reflecting the spirts of solidarity and the passion of people for sport in brilliant atmosphere extending full 24 hours with numerous activities, events and contests which have no specific place or time. It is an invitation for all age groups. Since launched, it has attracted various spectrums of the community and now we work as one team to boost the success and realise the objectives of the national sports day,” he added.
